Romans 14:2 TS2009 One indeed believes to eat all food, but he who is weak eats only vegetables.
Keep in mind, this verse does not allow us to eat things scripture says are unclean. Those things are not considered food. It says we can eat all food because only things that are clean are considered food. Pork, shell fish and other things says not to eat are simply NOT food.
Can All Vegetables Be Eaten Raw? Let’s Dive In.
The truth of the matter finds the answer is no, not all vegetables can, or should, be eaten raw. While many vegetables are delicious and nutritious when consumed raw, some contain compounds that can be harmful or difficult to digest without cooking, while others simply taste much better cooked.
Raw vegetables offer a great amount of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes often lowered during cooking. Enzymes, especially, play a crucial role in digestion. However, the benefits of raw consumption must be weighed against potential risks like naturally occurring toxins, difficult-to-digest components, and the palatability factor. Proper preparation and an awareness of which vegetables are best enjoyed cooked are key to maximizing the health benefits and minimizing any negative effects.
The raw food movement emphasizes consuming foods in their natural state, believing that cooking destroys vital nutrients. This mindset can be beneficial, but it’s necessary to be informed about the specific properties of each vegetable. While a raw carrot is a powerhouse of nutrients, a raw potato can be problematic.
Does the Bible tell us we can eat anything as long as we pray over it?
Keep in mind that scripture interprets scripture. If it says in one place not to do something, then it helps us understand passages like the following one.
1 Timothy 4:4 TS2009 Because every creature of Elohim is good, and none is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
1 Timothy 4:4 does not mean we can eat anything; it emphasizes that foods are sanctified by God’s Word and prayer, which refers to the dietary laws outlined in Leviticus 11. Therefore, certain things remain unclean and should not be consumed because they are not food.
We see in the book of Acts, Peter’s vision and he said he does not eat anything common or unclean. And this was after Yeshua the Messiah went to Heaven.
Acts 10:13-14 TS2009 And a voice came to him, “Rise up, Kěpha, slay and eat.” But Kěpha said, “Not at all, Master! Because I have never eaten whatever is common or unclean.”
When we read that whole chapter we see that this was not about making unclean things, clean. It was about not calling any man common or unclean since salvation was not only for Yisrael, but for all people.
Some say the law (Torah) was abolished but this simply is not true.
Matthew 5:17-20 TS2009 Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets.e I did not come to destroy but to complete.
(Note: The Law and the Prophets is a term used for the pre-Messianic Scriptures. They are not “Old Testament” as the false translations purport.)
For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one yod or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done. Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens. For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees,g you shall by no means enter into the reign of the heavens.
The dietary laws were never abolished, plain and simple.
2 Timothy 2:15 TS2009 Do your utmost to present yourself approved to Elohim, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of Truth.
